Troubleshooting
To assist our technicians and ensure that your problem is resolved promptly, we have provided you with the following tips for detailing your problem accurately.
- Please be clear and concise in your description of the problem, and try to avoid using phrases which can be interpreted in several ways.
- Carefully describe the external conditions of the device you have found a problem with. Items such as elevated temperature, or that a device has been mounted very close to a known interferer can be significant in problem solving. Do you have a photograph of the layout you can send us?
- If you have included the device in question in a larger system or circuit, what is it, and what are the other components that the device has to communicate with.
- Power supply voltage and current draw into the device can also be revealing in problem solving.
- Is the problem constant, or an intermittent one. Is there any pattern to when the device works or doesn't work?
- When quoting the part number, please make sure that the revision level has been included in the full part number
- Has the device in question been used in the past in this system or circuit without any problem?
- What, if anything, can you change in your system, which modifies the behavior of the problem you are seeing?
- If the device in question requires a software driver, which driver version are you using, and which OS is it running on, and what revision/version?
- Does replacing the device have any effect on the problem you have seen?
- When did you buy the device and if you can identify it, what is its serial number or date code?
