EOTec 6000 System Overview


The EOTec 6000 System lets you build a fiber optic network that supports popular PLC & Fieldbus devices. Using a modular set of rack mounted modules, the EOTec 6000 System can enhance and extend traditional "copper" based networks. The EOTec 6000 System consists of the following four (4) types of components:
Electrical Interface Modules (EIMs)
Connect to your PLC devices and/or fieldbus networked equipment.
Fiber Optic Interface Modules (OIMs)
Build a fiber based network using Single Mode or Multi-Mode Fiber Cables in avariety of topologies.
Self Healing Ring Module (SHRM)
Use this module in each fiber network node to build a self-healing ring for enhancedreliability.
EOTec 6000 Racks & Power Supplies
Power supply modules are available with various AC & DC input capabilities, as well as a dual redundant power supply.  The rack holds the electrical, optical and power supply modules.  Each rack can hold one power supply, one electrical interface module and one to four optical or additional electrical interface modules.  

 

Inter-module communications and power distribution is handled by the backplane within the  EOTec 6000 rack to minimize external wiring.

Flexible Network Topologies
Each node can support up to five (5) EIMs or OIMs to suite the application. The EOTec system allows the user to build a fiber optic system that supports several network topologies, including:

  • Point-To-Point,
  • Daisy-Chain,
  • Self-Healing Ring,
  • Star, or a basic
  • Optical Repeater.
